| Cyrus H. Wheelock
Cyrus Wheelock joined the Church in 1839 and filled a mission to Vermont and other states. A gifted orator, he labored with Governor Thomas Ford in behalf of Joseph Smith and those incarcerated in Carthage Jail. He accompanied the Church to Utah, returning in 1878 as president of the Northern States Mission. He lived in Mount Pleasant, Utah, where he wrote a number of widely used hymns.
