He has taught English and creative writing at Idaho State University, the University of Southern California, San Jose State, and Southern Utah State College, where he served as department chair. He left teaching in 1973 to pursue a career in business, and is still writing. |

His story "Another Angel" received an award from the Association for Mormon Letters as the best Mormon fiction published in 1981.
His book of poetry, Getting Drunk in a Clean House, was a finialist in the United States Award competition in 1972. |
