William A. Wilson, Emeritus professor of English at BYU and past president of the Association for Mormon Letters, served as chair of the BYU English department and as director of the BYU Folklore Archives. He has also served as editor of Western Folklore and on the executive board of the American Folklore Society and president of the Utah Folklore Society. He has published widely on topics ranging from folklore and nationalism in Finland to the folklore of the Mormons.
Wilson directs the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University and is former director of the Folklore Program at Utah State University, where he developed the annual Fife Folklore Conference. His research interests have taken him to Finland, the American West, and to his own Mormon culture. |
