Description
Within this database, an anthology is considered a book in which various genres are collected (by a single or by multiple authors) or it is a publication of a single genre of writing but by many authors. Records are established not only of each anthology, but of each item within the anthology. However, the complete contents of anthologies are not kept where only one item relates to Mormon literary concerns. For example, if an anthology not published by an LDS press includes the work of an LDS author, that specific work will be included, but not the other items in the anthology that do not fit the MLDB parameters.

Genre History
The existence of anthologies suggests the development of Mormon literature generally, as editors are able to select from a wide range of writings across time. Though miscellaneous collections (such as sermon collections) have appeared over time, the first significant anthology devoted to Mormon literary expression was A Believing People: Literature of the Latter -day Saints edited by Neal Lambert and Richard Cracroft.
