Summary: From one of the covers: Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, and James E. Faust recount the Latter-day Saint pioneers' journey from the banks of the Mississippi River to the Salt Lake Valley. These members of the First Presidency in 1997 appear individually in separate sections at various points along the Mormon Trail, culminating in President Hinckley atop Ensign Peak. It includes footage of actors reenacting portions of the journey (some apparently original, some apparently from previous Church productions). Annotations: See Mormon Film: Key Films of the Fourth Wave Though short, this was the main film created by the Church for the 1997 Pioneer Sesquicentennial (in October the other main production was "An Ensign to the Nations"). It shares its title with the theme of the celebration and a new hymn written in honor of the pioneers. It premiered on April 6, 1997 in the Sunday morning session of General Conference--the first time a film had shown IN Conference in many years--succeeded by comments by President Hinckley. It has subsequently been released on video individually, and it is Included as the tenth installment of the 1999 "Teachings from the Doctrine and Covenants and Church History" compilation video, also included on Disc 3, installment 2 of the three-disc "Church History: Home and Family Collection" DVD set.
