On April 28, 1947, an expedition was led by Norwegian biologist Thor Heyerdahl. The journey by raft spanned 4,300 nautical miles across the Pacific Ocean and was hailed as one of the most fantastic feats of daring and courage of its time.
The story of Thor Heyerdahl, who proved that a primitive voyage from South American to Polynesia was possible, aiding the LDS theory that Nephites inhabited Polynesia.
