Summary:
A man tries taking a shortcut through the desert (even though his map warns him not to), and when his car breaks down he tries taking a shortcut off the dirt road, becoming completely lost until he finds an old abandoned mining outpost. A water pump is there, but it won't work unless he "primes the pump," by pouring in a jug of water that has been left by the long-gone inhabitants. Will he prime the pump, giving him an endless supply of water, or drink in the jug?
